PPG Ferrari Red Finish Worn by 2008 Ridler Award Winner

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio – May 19, 2008 – PPG Ferrari Rosso Corsa Red was selected as the paint finish of choice on “Ferrambo,” the 2008 winner of the Ridler Award, one of the most prestigious awards in the world of custom automobiles. The award is presented to the most outstanding new custom car making its debut appearance at the Detroit Autorama, held each year in March. It marks the second time in three years that a PPG finish adorned the Ridler Award winner.

Sporting contemporary Ferrari 360 Modena mechanicals wrapped by the much-modified skin of a 1960 Rambler wagon, Ferrambo is modern power and technology in a gorgeous vintage envelope, a creation built from the combined talents and “out of the box” thinking at Divers Street Rods, Startup, WA, and Ferrambo owner Mike Warn, president of Gran Prix Imports, Wilsonville, OR.

“True to its promise, PPG provided us with the most beautiful and reliable finish possible,” explained shop owner Tim Divers. “The PPG Ferrari Rosso Corsa Red color chosen for Ferrambo really delivered.”

Shawn McNally and Jim Lykken executed the flawless PPG finish using Deltron® DBC 75259 basecoat over DP74LF sealer, topped off with DCU 2002 clearcoat. K38 Prima Primer Surfacer was used throughout the build. The frame was treated to a chemical cleaning with DX579 followed by conditioning with DX520 before applying DP90LF sealer and DCC 9300 color. After prepping all the pieces with DX533 and conditioning with DX503, the engine was fully detailed using DP48LF sealer, Deltron DBC 33897 Fine Silver Metallic and DCU 2002. PPG custom painter Paul Stoll provided support to the Divers crew and the beautiful finish speaks for itself.
