Diversity Councils are typically created at facilities where diversity training has been provided and associates become interested in fostering a more inclusive work culture at their site. Local Diversity Councils take direction from the Corporate Diversity Council and conduct activities that are valuable to the associates at their specific workplace.
The objectives of the local councils are as follows:
- Provide recommendations for actions to create a more inclusive work climate at PPG.
- Promote workforce diversity and work to improve the understanding and valuing of employee differences while maintaining a focus on the business objectives.
- Identify ways that PPG can best leverage our diverse employee population to our competitive advantage.
- Model behaviors that appreciate and value people of different backgrounds, experiences and cultures (P&LP behavior/success factor to Demonstrate Openness and Flexibility).
