PPG culture spreads from location to location around the world. Our widespread presence allows us to have a diverse range of employees across the globe.  Take a look at how PPG people are making a difference in their part of the world!

Home to PPG's global headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA, our North American region has over 40 locations.  From optical products to coatings to fiberglass, PPG North America has opportunities in a vast range of fields.  With several different research facilities, innovation happens here every day.

One example of PPG in the community involves one of the United States' top ten zoos.  PPG Industries and the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium have recently renewed their partnership. PPG Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Chuck Bunch announced a $6.9 million contribution over 10 years and introduced the PPG Conservation and Sustainability Fund. This fund awards grants to help support a variety of field studies and projects with a multidisciplinary approach to conservation. It will enable the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium to support research and conservation work around the world, especially in countries where PPG operates.

In 2011, EMEA was responsible for over $5 billion of PPG's net sales. And with about 60 locations, two-thirds of which are coatings-related, it's easy to understand why. After acquiring the SigmaKalon Group in 2008, PPG became the second largest coatings company in the world. When we say global, we mean it!

EMEA employees have taken charity to new heights...literally!  Recently, a dozen employees from our Automotive Refinish business in the UK raised almost £13,000 (about $19,000) for the Rainbow Trust Children's Charity after climbing Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales.  They battled high winds, relentless rain, and poor visibility to reach the summit of the 3,560-foot mountain. The Rainbow Trust Children's Charity provides emotional and practical support to families that have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. Thanks to the PPG climbers, over 600 hours of care can be given to families.

The South America and French Overseas region of PPG is home to over a dozen facilities, most of which are in the coatings business. PPG recently acquired the coatings businesses of Colpisa Colombiana de Pinturas and its affiliates, becoming the only major coatings supplier with a direct automotive OEM coatings manufacturing presence in Colombia.

PPG is all about empowering its employees and promoting team unity.  Last year, the Latin America Women's Leadership Council was launched, joining similar councils formed in other PPG regions. The WLC’s mission is to “be a strategic partner in the transformation of PPG into a stronger, more competitive global company by fostering a climate that recognizes the business value of women in the workplace and by creating a work environment that attracts, retains and advances women.” The corporate WLC and its regional chapters in 2011 offered a wide range of training opportunities for all PPG employees, not just women.

Our Asia/Pacific region is home to more than 35 facilities, with 14 manufacturing facilities in China alone. In fact, PPG was one of the few global chemical companies that invested in China in the 1980's.

Thirty PPG employee volunteers recently participated in "Dream Day at the Zoo".  The event gives groups of orphans from the Shanghai Children's Welfare Institute a very special tour of the Shanghai Zoo.  These volunteers joined the orphans in the day's activities.  PPG China has established volunteer teams in Tianjin and Wuhu with as many as 100 members.

PPG was also recognized as a “2011 Responsible Corporate Citizen” and “2011 Excellent Charity Program” during a recent ceremony in Beijing.  The ceremony's purpose is to promote charity and social responsibility by highlighting moments in the charity programs initiated by enterprises in China.
