Solar Control Tinted Glass

Tinted Glass with the Comfort of Solar Control

Since 1940, PPG has responded to marketplace needs with an outstanding array of solar control tinted glasses that lower the amount of sunlight entering the home to reduce glare, cut cooling demands for air conditioning systems and generally enhance a home’s interior comfort. PPG's tinted residential glass product line is the most comprehensive around, offering such innovative tinted glasses as:

Atlantica™ Tinted Glass

Atlantica™ (formerly Solargreen®) residential glass is an emerald green tinted glass that combines desirable high visible light transmittance with low shading coefficient, providing homeowners with an attractive solution to meeting new glazing energy conservation design criteria. Its sparkling green color is especially striking against light-colored facades. Introduced in 1992.

Graylite II ® Tinted Glass

PPG introduced the original Graylite residential glass in 1960. In 2009, the company reformulated the product to outperform previous versions while retaining its popular dark-gray aesthetic. New Graylite II tinted glass provides superior heat load reduction and solar control with definitive color contrast. In a 3mm (1/8 inch) thickness, daylight transmittance is 24%, making it ideal for glare control and privacy glazing. It blocks 92% of the sun’s ultraviolet energy, more than most residential glasses available today(3mm thickness). The result is exceptional protection against interior fabric and color fading caused by UV light. With its bold, almost-black look, Graylite II glass is the solution for applications requiring reduced solar heat gain, UV light protection, or a specific aesthetic objective.

Solarbronze ® Tinted Glass

The warmth of its bronze tint has made Solarbronze glass a popular residential glass solution since 1959 for residential homes. Solarbronze tinted glass reduces solar heat gain and glare while providing a visible light transmittance of 67% for 3mm (1/8 inch) thickness. Solarbronze tinted glass imparts a subtle richness from the exterior and adds a warm glow to interior decors without noticeably influencing true color. Its bronze color especially complements brick and stone facades. Introduced in 1959.

Solargray ® Tinted Glass

For over 50 years, Solargray residential glass has been selected for homes because of its cool light-gray appearance and ability to control solar heat gain and glare. Solargray tinted glass in 3mm (1/8 inch) thickness provides a visible light transmittance of 60%. Low ultraviolet light transmittance (37% for 3mm thickness) helps reduce color fading of fabrics, wall coverings, and paintings that results from exposure to sunlight. Its light gray color makes Solargray tinted glass attractive with almost any building façade. Introduced in 1958.
