Product Stewardship - Toxicology & Environmental Health Sciences
Environmental Health Sciences and Toxicology is a broad discipline that studies the effects of naturally occurring or synthetic chemicals on human health and the environment.
PPG’s Environmental Health Sciences and Toxicology group creates and implements strategies for the development of hazard information on new and existing PPG products in order to support risk management of potential health impacts on our employees, customers, the public, and the environment. PPG uses a variety of well-established and innovative technologies to assess potential health impacts, including computer models and structure activity relationships. PPG makes every effort to avoid animal testing; however, some animal testing is required due to government regulation or the lack of any other scientifically valid methods. In cases where animal testing is necessary, PPG strictly adheres to the principles outlined in the PPG Animal Welfare Policy.
