PPG's Waterborne "Convert With Confidence" Training Information
PPG is committed to providing the level of training, technical support and services required for your shop to make a smooth transition to waterborne. Your local PPG support team is available to help you through the transition to these new products to ensure that you and your employees have a clear and practical understanding of how to get the very best out of your new waterborne basecoat system.
Technician Training
To ensure your paint technicians are ready and skilled at refinishing with waterborne basecoat, PPG offers a comprehensive training course, covering everything they need to know about the application of your new system. The program includes both classroom and hand-on instruction. Topics covered include:
- Product System Overview
- Application Techniques
- Spot Repair & Blending
- Product Tips (“ Dos” and “ Don'ts”)
- Equipment Requirements
- Environmental, Health & Safety Issues
- Waste Handling
- Color Adjustment
In Canada currently there is no off-site training. All topics mentioned above are covered in the on-site training at the collision repair centre. Additional training is provided by the waterborne training CD.
Training Scheduling
Once information about a collision shop is provided to PPG, shop owners or managers will be notified by PPG of the dates employees will be scheduled to attend the technician training course. To ensure minimal disruption to operations, it is recommended that body shop owners or managers create a workflow plan to accommodate the technician training schedule.
In Canada, training has been provided on-site at the collision repair centre's business. Training will be provided as part of your conversion. This date will be agreed to between yourself and PPG.
On-site Training
In addition to off-site training for your technicians, a PPG conversion team will provide on-site training on conversion day, covering application training, computer training, waste stream training and color tool training.
