My PPG Career: Since June 2010
My Current Job: I analyze all financial aspects of the business to recommend actions to maximize profitability. I also perform value chain analyses on customer processes; provide data to develop customer value propositions. I formulate and recommend pricing strategies; provide financial data to assist in preparation of annual budgets.
What do you find challenging in your work? In my current role, it is a constant challenge to find the value in the information available to the automotive industry.
What do you enjoy about working at PPG? I enjoy the diverse group of people you interact with on a daily basis.


Amanda Sismour

Location: Pittsburgh - General Office

Position: Business Analyst
Alma Mater: Penn State University
My PPG Career: Started PPG in June 2008 as a FLD Trainee in the Oak Creek, WI facility. Moved to Corporate Audit Services in August of 2009 as a Staff then Senior Auditor and most recently into my current role in June of 2011.
My Current Job: I am the financial analyst for the Dealer Channel within Architectural Coatings. I have responsibility over all of the financials as well as understanding customer profitability and assisting with business decisions.
What do you find challenging in your work? Making sure to understand all perspectives of the business from Sales to Supply Chain, HR and Marketing – but it’s one of the more exciting parts too!
What do you enjoy about working at PPG? I enjoy the different career opportunities and businesses PPG has to work for.


Jon Murray

Location: Oak Creek, WI

Position: FLD Trainee/Cost Accountant IV
Alma Mater: Penn State University
My PPG Career: Interned with PPG Credit Department in Pittsburgh, PA; Completed first year of FLD rotation in Oak Creek, WI
My Current Job: I provide ownership of finance operations and perform cost accountant responsibilities at a multi-million dollar R&D facility, including month-end closes, variance analysis, annual variable and fixed budgets, annual revision of standards, recoverable assets management, annual physical inventories, and fixed asset management. I also provide financial support for US Industrial Technical and Sales Teams including comprising and support of an annual +$50MM budget.
What do you find challenging in your work? The most challenging part of my work would be time management and organization. Many days, I am juggling several projects and plan to complete some tasks on my to-do lists, but usually throughout the day more important tasks get added and need to be addressed. Also, I would say learning PPG’s various financial and production systems were a challenge when I first started, since college courses can only prepare you so much.
What do you enjoy about working at PPG? I enjoy the amount of responsibility and ownership that PPG offers to its new hires and interns. From day one, you are part of the PPG team and will be able to work with every level of the organization. I also enjoy that PPG offers numerous opportunities for different career paths in which guidance and flexibility towards your career goals are available.
