Name Questions

Q. What is the proper way to use the company’s name? Can I just say PPG or do I have to use PPG Industries, Inc.?

A. There are two ways to use the company’s name, the legal name and the communicative name.

  • The official, legal name of the corporation should be used when the formal identification of the company is required, for example on purchase orders, invoices, business cards and other official papers. In the U.S., the legal name is “PPG Industries, Inc.” In Japan, it is “PPG Japan Ltd.”
  • The communicative names of the corporation may be used when the corporation is mentioned in headlines or in text or media materials. In the U.S., the communicative names are “PPG” and “PPG Industries” (without the “Inc.”).
