Vistacool™ Atlantica™ Glass
Vistacool™ Atlantica™ glass by PPG adds another color option to the Vistacool family of products with a lush emerald-green glass that is enriched by the Visatcool brand’s proprietary coating. As a moderately reflective glass, Vistacool Atlantica glass combines high visible light transmittance (VLT) with strong solar control performance, resulting in spectral selectivity in any climate zone.
When used in a standard 1-inch insulating glass unit (IGU) with clear glass, Vistacool Atlantica glass has VLT of 47 percent – higher than any product in its category – along with a solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of 0.35. The resulting light-to-solar-gain (LSG) ratio of 1.32 enables Vistacool Atlantica glass to meet U.S. Department of Energy standards for spectral selectivity, which means it reduces energy costs while enhancing daylight and views. Used this way, or in combination with third-surface low-e coatings, Vistacool Atlantica glass can also help projects achieve LEED® certification. In addition, it is complementary to other building envelope materials and works well as privacy glass.
Vistacool Atlantica glass may be combined with sputter-coated (soft-coat) Solarban® 70XL solar control, low-emissivity (low-e) glass to provide SHGCs as low as 0.23 and a winter nighttime U-value of 0.28. When used in an IGU with Sungate® 500 glass, a hard-coat, passive low-e glass, Vistacool Atlantica glass delivers a SHGC of 0.31, along with the ability to be fabricated in the popular, aesthetically dramatic larger sizes.
