Influenza is responsible for about 36,000 deaths annually, while pneumonia is responsible for about 40,000 deaths. All adults over 50 are encouraged to be immunized to prevent flu, pneumonia, and hepatitis B, along with measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus and diphtheria.
Seasonal Flu
The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu
vaccine each year.
