PPG to hold first-ever ColorShare forums in New York and Chicago
PITTSBURGH, April 26, 2006 – New York and Chicago will be the host cities for the first-ever PPG
ColorShare Forums, two events that will bring together an eclectic ensemble of color visionaries from across the automotive, consumer electronics, architectural design, fashion and other industries to discuss the role, meaning and technology of color in contemporary design and culture. New York ColorShare Forum Speakers and Topics Among the highlighted speakers for the New York PPG
ColorShare Forum is Viggo Wake, senior design for Nokia-Calabasis, who will examine the search for expressive colors and textures in the cell phone industry, and the process from color development to color refinement as new cell phones are introduced to the market.
Joining Mr. Wake on the dais in New York will be Josette Buisson, artistic director for
Pittsburgh Paints and one of North America’s top color experts. Ms. Buisson will investigate the role color can play in interior design and decorating in creating a calming antidote to our accelerated, stress-filled lives.
In addition, Charles Linn, deputy editor of
Architectural Record will provide a historical perspective on color in architecture, and what current trends and influences bode for the future.
Finally, Petra L’Abbe and Jane Harrington, PPG global color stylists, will forecast color trends in the automotive and consumer electronics industries for the next two years, and discuss how those trends will influence the technology of color for coatings, glass and paint at PPG.
Chicago ColorShare Forum Speakers and Topics In Chicago, Ms. Buisson will be joined in the
ColorShare Forum by Mark Sexton, FAIA, founding partner of Krueck & Sexton Architects. The 2005 Chicagoan of the Year will discuss color in architecture, sources of creative inspiration and ideas on the application of a clear aesthetic to show life within, through and out of structures.
In addition, Steve Sternberger, marketing manager for the PPG Construction Market Team, will detail how PPG facilitates the expression of meaning and identity through the innovative integration of glass, coatings and paint. He also will preview new technologies that may give architects and designers greater freedom in delivering creative color inspiration from concept to finished surfaces.
Ms. L’ Abbe and Ms. Harrington will reprise their New York presentation as well.
