Winning Perewitz Bike Showcasing PPG Colors to be Featured on Discovery Channel Biker Build-Off STRONGSVILLE, Ohio – October 5, 2006
– An awesome custom-built motorcycle designed and created by renowned bike builder Dave Perewitz will be featured on the Discovery Channel Biker Build-Off program this Monday, October 9 at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. The Build-Off, which has captured the imagination of bike enthusiasts around the world, pits well-known bike designers against one another to create the ultimate chopper. Perewitz's “Flaming Masterpiece,” featuring colors from the Vibrance Collection™ by PPG, was the winner of this Build-Off episode.
Cycle magazines all over the world have hailed Dave Perewitz as a master of art in motion. His business, Perewitz Cycle Fabrications in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, is known for producing one-of-a-kind, hand-built choppers that are as comfortable and reliable as they are beautiful.
The numerous honors he has won include being inducted into the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame in 2001 and into the National Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame in 2003. Easyriders Magazine named him “Best Custom Fabricated Bike Builder” in 2003 and later awarded him their “Lifetime Achievement Award.”
This unique Perewitz bike is stretched and slammed on the ground. It has a 20-inch rear with 23-inch front Perewitz Felon wheels. The bike roars with a TP 121 engine, a Baker 6-speed Right Side drive and features a Killer Shark seat made by Danny Gray. The Perewitz crew spent more than 500 hours during a period of 10 days to build this award-winning bike from the ground up.
The crowning glory of this spectacular chopper is a signature Perewitz flame design executed in colors from the Vibrance Collection™ of PPG custom finishes. A custom blend of yellow colors and PPG toners were used to accomplish the dramatic paint scheme designed by Perewitz himself.
“A well-designed paint job and quality finish makes or breaks a job,” said Perewitz. “I've used PPG paint for as long as I can remember. The finished bike has to look fantastic and yet be totally reliable. We expect what we make to be ridden – a lot. That's where the PPG Vibrance Collection comes in. It gives us PPG quality and durability, and it also gives us this huge palette of great colors to work with to create a truly unique look for every cycle we make.”
Cycle enthusiasts won't want to miss the Discovery Channel Biker Build-Off this Monday evening. Those attending the SEMA show, October 31 through November 3 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, can see this awesome bike in PPG booth #22891.
