PPG introduces sample kit for extra-heavy Starphire ultra-clear glass

Kit demonstrates clarity of glass in standard 15- and 19-millimeter thicknesses

PITTSBURGH, April 12, 2007 – PPG Industries' (NYSE:PPG) performance glazings business has created a sample kit highlighting the color and clarity differences between extra-heavy Starphire ultra-clear glass and conventional clear architectural glass. PPG now stocks Starphire ultra-clear glass as a standard inventory item in 15- and 19-millimeter thicknesses.

The extra-heavy Starphire glass sample kit contains one 19-millimeter lite of Starphire glass and one of conventional clear glass. The comparison shows the stark contrast between extra-heavy Starphire glass, whose clarity actually intensifies as its gets thicker, with the light-green cast inherent in traditional clear glasses.

The exceptional transparency of Starphire glass enables architects to incorporate an enhanced level of sleekness and light into building designs. It is popular for storefronts, skylights, display windows, security glass, atria and building facades.

Extra-heavy Starphire ultra-clear glass is cost-competitive with other commonly specified architectural glasses and available through members of the PPG Certified Fabricator Program (PPG/CFP) and more than 100 glass fabricators throughout the United States and Canada.
