PPG to offer custom painting seminar at Goodguys PPG Nationals

COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 12, 2007 – PPG Industries’ automotive refinish business will offer a free custom painting seminar at the Goodguys PPG National Show, Saturday, July 14 at 10 a.m. in the Ohio Building at the Ohio Expo Center.

PPG custom painting instructors Paul Stoll, Jamie Redd and Jeff Matauch will conduct an informal session to inform do-it-yourselfers about the painting process and the range of products available through the Vibrance Collection of custom finishes by PPG, particularly the exclusive Hot Wheels® Spectraflame® co-branded paint line featuring colors found on the Hot Wheels® line of die-cast toy vehicles from Mattel, Inc.

PPG offers custom painting courses designed to enhance painters’ skills and set them on the road toward creating their own custom paint schemes and designs. A technician must be either PPG Certified or have completed the Vibrance Collection custom finishes product course to advance to the custom courses.

The Vibrance Collection custom finishes products course teaches technicians the basic rules of custom painting and how to select the right products for a job, from primers to clears. The course covers instruction on the Vibrance Collection custom finishes color palette and use of special-effects pigments, candy dyes and tints to create custom colors. Instruction also includes tips on using a mid-coat clear to successfully layer coats of Vibrance Collection custom finishes colors for exciting effects.

Technicians can then take advantage of courses designed to elevate painting skills to the next level of creativity. Custom Graphics, Flames Design, Airbrush Techniques, Advanced Airbrush Techniques (including Real Fire or American Flag and Eagle classes) and Vibrance Collection Candy Apple Finishes courses deliver practical instructions on these popular painting techniques.

Professional classes are limited to 14 participants and held at state-of-the-art PPG business development centers, which have all the equipment necessary for hands-on training. Classes include instruction, training materials, show panels, lunch and certificates of accomplishment.
