PPG pledges $15,000 to Cumberland County American Red Cross
Funding supports capital campaign to create modern facility in old churchCARLISLE, Pa., Aug. 30, 2007 –
PPG Industries Foundation has pledged $15,000 to Cumberland County American Red Cross (CCARC) for its “Almost Home” capital campaign, which will fund renovation of the Greater Grace Church to become the new headquarters for the chapter.
“We are very pleased to receive support from PPG for the ‘Almost Home’ campaign,” said Sherrie L. Davis, executive director, CCARC. “This funding will get us closer to covering the high cost of renovating our property and creating a permanent home for CCARC that offers expanded collection of blood and blood products, an emergency services command center, additional classroom space and many more services to support the community.”
Cumberland County American Red Cross has been without a permanent home since May 1, 2006. On December 22, 2006, it purchased the Greater Grace Church located at 54 S. Bedford Street, Carlisle. The campaign has secured $847,000 in funding and pledges to date toward its $900,000 goal for renovating the property and moving in by March 2008.
Tom Abbas, plant manager for PPG’s glass manufacturing facility in Carlisle, said, “PPG is strongly committed to supporting the communities where its employees work and live. We are proud to support CCARC in its efforts to establish an up-to-date base of operations for the many services it provides throughout Cumberland County and surrounding areas.”About Cumberland County American Red Cross
