PPG Aerospace earns third Derco Aerospace Gold Standard Award
Award recognizes delivery performance for C-130 windshields and windowsHUNTSVILLE, Ala., Feb. 21, 2008 –
PPG Industries’ (NYSE:PPG) aerospace transparencies business has earned the Gold Standard Award from Derco Aerospace, Milwaukee, for its 2007 on-time performance in delivering windshields and windows for the C-130 military transport aircraft.
PPG has been the primary supplier of C-130 transparencies since production began in 1954, and it manufactures all 23 forward-facing cockpit transparencies for original equipment and spares at its Huntsville plant. Derco supplies C-130 replacement transparencies for foreign military applications.
Derco presents its Gold Standard Awards annually to its original-equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners that deliver outstanding-quality products 90 percent on time or better. PPG’s on-time delivery exceeded Derco’s requirements.
“PPG is a valued and well-respected OEM partner for Derco, and we greatly appreciate the cooperation from the entire PPG team,” said John Sepulveda, Derco executive vice president and general manager.
“PPG’s ability to maintain a mixture of 23 C-130 cockpit transparency designs to meet Derco’s foreign military demands demonstrates our commitment to this partnership, which began in 1987,” said John Miller, PPG senior account manager. “The C-130 has been in continuous production longer than any other aircraft flying today, and the C-130 aircraft fleet is the world leader in foreign military use. PPG is pleased to be able to support Derco's efforts to provide products and services for the large foreign fleet demand.”
This is the third time PPG has received Derco’s Gold Standard Award.
PPG also supplies Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company with C-130 windshields and windows for production aircraft.
