McCARRAN, Nev., June 20, 2008 –
PPG Industries Foundation has pledged $9,000 to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada’s “New Home, New Hope” capital campaign to help fund the building of a new food distribution center in the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center.

"We are very pleased to receive support from PPG for the establishment of our permanent distribution center," said Cherie Jamason, president and chief executive officer, Food Bank of Northern Nevada (FBNN). "The facility will double our warehouse space and greatly increase our capability to house fresh produce. We are tremendously excited about our new home and the new capabilities we will have when it is completed."

The new facility, called the Donald W. Reynolds Regional Food Distribution Center, will be the region’s largest charitable food distribution center at 54,180 square feet – nearly the size of a football field and almost triple the square footage of the current Food Bank of Northern Nevada facility. FBNN estimates it will enable the organization to distribute an additional 5 million pounds of food per year and to provide approximately 3.5 million more meals annually to hungry people in northern Nevada and the Sierra.

“PPG is strongly committed to supporting the communities where its employees work and live,” said Terry McGinnis, plant manager at PPG’s architectural coatings manufacturing facility in the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center. “We are proud to support FBNN in its efforts to build a brand-new, permanent home that will provide greatly expanded capacity. We look forward to continuing to help our new neighbors offer better nutrition, improved access and additional resources to help more and more hungry people across the region.”
