The PPG Industries Foundation pledged $10,000 to a capital campaign that funded the remodeling of a building on Hills-Miller Road, more than double the size of the local American Red Cross’s former location, which now serves as the organization’s home, helping the ARC to better serve more people in the Delaware community. |
"We are very pleased to have received support from PPG for our capital campaign," said Phillip E. Packard, interim director, Delaware County American Red Cross. "The funding has helped enable us to remodel and make a smooth transition into our new home, which has in turn enabled us to better serve even more people in the Delaware community."
The Delaware County Chapter of the American Red Cross acquired a building more than double the size of its former location, along with three acres of land. The capital campaign funded remodeling of the organization’s new home, giving it the opportunity to expand as the county and chapter grow. The facility’s amenities include a training room on the main level, easier access for individuals with physical difficulties, an ample parking lot and an on-site disaster operations center.
“PPG is strongly committed to supporting the communities where its employees work and live,” said Carl Johnson, North America director of refinish manufacturing, based at PPG’s automotive refinish paint manufacturing facility in Delaware, and a director on the local American Red Cross chapter’s board. “We are proud to support the Delaware County American Red Cross in building a community center that is providing area individuals and families with help in addressing and training to prevent a variety of emergency situations.”
