PPG donates $2,500 to Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank
Funding supports everyday operations of organization
BARBERTON, Ohio, May 7, 2009
Daniel R. Flowers, president and chief executive officer, Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, hosted Rich Bauer, plant manager at PPG Industries’ chemicals manufacturing facility in Barberton, during a tour of the Foodbank’s facility.
– The PPG Industries Foundation has donated $2,500 to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank for operating support.

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank experienced an unprecedented demand for emergency food requests in 2008, distributing 16 million pounds of food, which was a 25-percent increase over 2007. This increased demand has remained steady in 2009. The Foodbank provides food to more than 370 community organizations that operate food pantries, hot meal programs, shelters and other emergency hunger-relief programs in Carroll, Holmes, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties.
