PPG donates $3,000 to United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra

Funding helps organization support other agencies in community

McCARRAN, Nev., May 15, 2009
– The PPG Industries Foundation has donated $3,000 to United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) for operating support.

"We are very pleased to receive support from PPG to help us advance the common good in our community," said Karen Barsell, chief executive officer and president, UWNNS. "We all win when our community thrives, and working together with companies such as PPG, UWNNS can help address the most important needs in our region: education, income and health."

UWNNS helps fund 61 programs at 44 not-for-profit agencies providing services to residents in eight Nevada counties around Lake Tahoe.

“PPG is strongly committed to supporting the communities where its employees work and live,” said Terry McGinnis, plant manager at PPG’s architectural coatings manufacturing facility in the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Park. “We are proud to support United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra in its efforts to help improve the lives of people in our community, especially in current economic conditions.”

Established in 1951, the PPG Industries Foundation demonstrates the values of PPG Industries by enhancing the quality of life in communities where the company has a presence. Interests of the foundation, in order of priority, are education, human services, culture and arts, and civic and community affairs. PPG also supports charitable causes by encouraging employee volunteerism and executives’ involvement with nonprofit organizations.
