PPG launches e-learning tool for TRIVEX material users

Online training offers convenient support

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 6, 2009 – Recognizing the need for easy access to product education, PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) has created a Trivex material online training guide for eyecare professionals.

“As the availability of Trivex material continues to grow, so does the demand for product information,” said Nathan Troxell, PPG marketing manager, optical materials. “This module is a user-friendly overview of the various aspects of Trivex material for industry professionals, and the online format allows us to provide free and easy access to anyone interested in learning more.”

PPG designed the course to be beneficial for training new hires and providing insights for more experienced eyecare professionals looking for ways to enhance their business with a focus on quality products.

The course begins with the history and science behind Trivex material and reviews performance benefits, using interactive illustrations and charts to demonstrate key properties. It then focuses on dispensing and suggests how to tailor recommendations based on the way patients’ lifestyles impact their eyewear expectations. It also reviews how Trivex material can be combined with advanced lens designs and enhancements to fit various lifestyle needs. The business advantages associated with offering lenses made from Trivex material conclude the course, followed by a short, interactive quiz to reinforce learning.

The e-learning course is available in the education section of the recently redesigned Web site for Trivex material, www.PPGTrivex.com/education.

“The Internet continues to be an increasingly effective and convenient channel to provide education and training,” Troxell said. “As shown by the recent improvements to our Web site, we’re very focused on providing easy access to information and resources that help eyecare professionals learn more about Trivex material and give their patients the best balance of visual properties for their lifestyle.”
