Interior designers partner with PPG Pittsburgh Paints to launch My Voice of Color in-home color consultation program

Program connects Pittsburgh area homeowners with easy, accessible, affordable professional color consultations

PITTSBURGH, March 5, 2010 – PPG Pittsburgh Paints today joined 11 interior designers to launch My Voice of Color – a resource that connects Pittsburgh homeowners with PPG-color-certified interior designers for one-hour, in-home color and design consultations.

“With nearly 2,000 colors, finding the perfect hue for your home can be overwhelming. And finding and hiring the right interior designer can be an intimidating process,” said Dee Schlotter, brand manager, The Voice of Color. “My Voice of Color is an exciting new tool that adds to the resources we provide to homeowners. It makes finding and hiring an interior designer quick, easy and affordable, so homeowners can get the professional assistance they need to choose the perfect color.”

Homeowners can begin by visiting www.myvoiceofcolor.com/pittsburgh to view a list of interior designers who have completed specialized design and color training provided by PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG). Each My Voice of Color designer is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and has at least six years of professional design experience in residential and commercial spaces. Visitors to the Web site can read bios of interior designers and view a portfolio of sample designs. In addition to the Web site, homeowners can visit PPG Pittsburgh Paints dealers in the Pittsburgh area to learn more about My Voice of Color designers.

Once homeowners choose an interior designer that fits their style, they can schedule a one-hour “house call” color consult for $75. “This is an excellent value – homeowners are getting top-notch color expertise for a reasonable rate through My Voice of Color,” Schlotter said. “Typically, interior designers can charge upwards of $150 an hour. This is a great way for consumers to receive direction and feedback from true professionals on their color and design ideas, and ultimately, a way for them to feel confident in their color selection.”

The designer arrives at the consumer’s home with color samples, images for inspiration and more for the one-on-one, hour-long consultation. In addition, homeowners who receive a consultation will also receive a $50 coupon for PPG Pittsburgh Paints products.
