PPG sponsors Shanghai Volkswagen Painting Competition (Zone: South and Central China)
WUHAN, China, July 27, 2010 – After months of intense preparation, the 2010 Shanghai Volkswagen Painting Competition (Zone: South and Central China) final took place July 8 at Volkswagen’s Wuhan Youzhiyou store. Hosted by Shanghai Volkswagen and PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG), the event was attended by executives from Shanghai Volkswagen South and Central China Sales Service Center, PPG Industries and more than 20 special repair shops.
The competition aims to promote branded paints recognized by Volkswagen to its special repair shops, to help mechanical technicians understand how to use original-equipment (OEM) paints, and to offer technicians a platform to showcase their talents. The competition offered mechanical technicians from Shanghai Volkswagen the opportunity to display their professional skills to car owners all over China.
Participants included talented painting technicians from 16 special repair shops affiliated with Shanghai Volkswagen South and Central China Sales Service Center. All delivered an outstanding performance at the advanced painting workshop.
The final is the qualifying match for the national competition. The champion and runner-up qualified for the Shanghai Volkswagen No.1 Body Painting Competition national playoffs, which will reward winners with a European tour.
Mr. Zheng Xiaodong, national sales manager of PPG Automotive Refinish, the exclusive sponsor of this competition, said, “PPG is very glad to sponsor this grand event, which is an excellent opportunity to show the technical expertise of Shanghai Volkswagen, PPG Industries and auto repair shops in South and Central China.
