PPG to display military vehicle that highlights products at AUSA 2010 meeting

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 25, 2010 – PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) will display a high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle (HMMWV) at the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA) 2010 Annual Meeting and Exhibition, today through Oct. 27 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington. The vehicle highlights PPG products developed specifically for military vehicles, demonstrating the company’s commitment to providing solutions to the U.S. military.

The display vehicle highlights several products developed by PPG specifically for military vehicles:

  • The Crew Egress System (CES), an emergency exit system integrated into the windshield of the vehicle that provides an alternative path to safety via a transparent armor opening should the doors or hatches become inoperable;
  • MIL-TOUGH(TM) polyurea coatings, which offer outstanding substrate protection and abrasion, impact, scratch-and-mar and chip resistance in all formulations, with versions designed and tested to provide improved fire, spall or blast resistance as well; and
  • A low-volatile organic compound (VOC) polymeric flattened water-dispersible chemical agent-resistant coating (CARC) topcoat.

In addition to the products on the vehicle, and a wide range of CARCs for military vehicles and equipment through its partnership with NCP Coatings, PPG offers technologies for military vehicles such as ACCUFOAM(TM) structural foam, AUDIOGUARD(R) acoustic coatings, PITT-CHAR(R) XP fire-resistant coatings and DURAPREP(TM) water-based paint strippers.
