Two PPG AIA/CES programs available online through Hanley Wood University

Topics cover liquid, powder and metal roof coatings

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 29, 2010 – PPG Industries’ (NYSE:PPG) industrial coatings business announced that Hanley Wood University, an online education source for architects, is now offering two new American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System (AIA/CES) registered programs developed by PPG.

The first program, Cool Coatings for Metal Roofing, features three learning objectives for architects:

  • Learn the benefits and attributes of cool roofing.
  • Understand current U.S. specifications, codes, regulations and guidelines for cool roofing.
  • Learn about research that validates the cool-roof concept.

The second course is Architectural Applications for Liquid and Powder Fluoropolymer Coatings – An Objective Review.  It helps architects understand the advantages of using liquid and powder coatings for aluminum extrusions in construction by comparing the respective protective and decorative properties of the coatings as well as their environmental attributes.

Both courses can be accessed at
In additional to online courses, PPG offers free AIA/CES registered programs on topics related to high-performance metal coatings, architectural glass and paint. The courses are taught by PPG representatives throughout the United States, and can help architects earn AIA/CES continuing education units and stay current on the latest building construction and specification issues. Courses can be scheduled at the time and place of an architectural firm’s choice. Each presentation lasts approximately one hour.
