PPG discusses optical technology at Tianjin Medical University
Helping students understand industry trends for optical careers
TIANJIN, China, Dec. 21, 2010 – PPG Industries’ (NYSE: PPG) optical products business representatives presented a lecture on “High-Tech Spectacle Materials in the 21st Century Optometry and Eye Care Industry” for teachers and students in the college of Optometry and Ophthalmology at Tianjin Medical University on Nov. 24. More than 200 students and faculty members, including the party branch secretary of the university, attended this lecture.
PPG optical products executives briefed attendees on innovations in optical technology, encouraging students to learn about new industry products and developments in order to provide better service to patients. As a leading producer of optical-grade monomers used in the manufacture of ophthalmic lenses, PPG makes products such as TRIVEX(R) lens material and NXT(R) sunlenses made with Trivex material that offer characteristics such as light weight, high clarity, safety and durability.
