LITTLE ROCK, Ark., March 4, 2011 – The PPG Industries Foundation donated $2,000 to Heart of Arkansas United Way in 2010 on behalf of the PPG Industries protective and marine coatings facility in Little Rock.

"We are very pleased to receive this support from PPG," said John Nazzaro, president, Heart of Arkansas United Way. “Local health and human services agencies, such as the Red Cross, Boys and Girls Clubs, and the Arkansas Foodbank Network, rely on United Way funds to carry out their missions. Companies such as PPG are helping Heart of Arkansas United Way to support these organizations and improve the quality of life in Central Arkansas.”

Heart of Arkansas United Way was formed in 1923 as the Community Chest and United Fund, by the combined efforts of the Little Rock, North Little Rock and Jacksonville Chambers of Commerce. It has developed and maintained a network of relationships with citizens, local businesses, state and federal government agencies, and other nonprofits to develop collaborations that will have a positive, sustainable impact in the community. It provides support, through channels such as workplace campaigns, leadership societies and a volunteer center, to Arkansas organizations that specialize in fulfilling the specific needs of their communities.

“PPG is strongly committed to supporting the communities where its employees work and live,” said Mike D’Ambra, plant manager overseeing PPG’s Little Rock coatings manufacturing operations. “We recognize the important work of Heart of Arkansas United Way, and we are proud to help it fulfill its mission to make life better for the residents of Central Arkansas.”

Established in 1951, the PPG Industries Foundation demonstrates the values of PPG Industries by enhancing the quality of life in communities where the company has a presence. Interests of the foundation, in order of priority, are education, human services, culture and arts, and civic and community affairs. PPG also supports charitable causes by encouraging employee volunteerism and executives’ involvement with nonprofit organizations.
