BATAVIA, Ill., March 9, 2011 – The PPG Industries Foundation donated $2,500 to Batavia United Way in 2010 on behalf of the local PPG Industries coatings manufacturing and distribution facilities. The relationship between PPG Batavia and Batavia United Way, previously operating as Batavia Community Chest, has been ongoing for more than a decade.

"We are very pleased to continue receiving support from PPG," said Jody Haltenhof, executive director of Batavia United Way. “It’s great to be able to count on partner companies such as PPG that help us to provide support to our service partners in the Batavia community.”

The Batavia United Way raises funds for programs that directly benefit Batavians, partnering with 18 organizations in 2011 to do so, such as the local American Red Cross, Batavia Teen Center, Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois, CASA of Kane County, and Elderday Center. Batavia United Way envisions a community where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, income stability and healthy lives. It values all members of the community as well as its volunteers, donors and partners, and it seeks to make a measurable, lasting impact in Batavia with accountability and integrity.

“PPG is strongly committed to supporting the communities where its employees work and live,” said Hank Saunders, plant manager of PPG’s Batavia coatings manufacturing facility. “We recognize the important work of the Batavia United Way, and we are proud to help it fulfill its goal of improving life for local residents.”

Established in 1951, the PPG Industries Foundation demonstrates the values of PPG Industries by enhancing the quality of life in communities where the company has a presence. Interests of the foundation, in order of priority, are education, human services, culture and arts, and civic and community affairs. PPG also supports charitable causes by encouraging employee volunteerism and executives’ involvement with nonprofit organizations.
