OLYMPIC Paints introduces mobile application for iPhone, Android devices

COLORCLIX app helps consumers find inspiration, manage painting projects

PITTSBURGH, March 28, 2010 – Selecting paint and décor colors and managing home painting projects has never been easier, thanks to the new COLORCLIX(TM) mobile application available free from OLYMPIC(R) Paints. The ColorClix app helps consumers to find color inspiration in anything they see by snapping a photo with a mobile device, selecting any color displayed and matching it to one of more than 1,200 Olympic Zero-VOC Interior and Dirtguard Exterior Paint colors. It also helps users to select paint colors, order samples and find retail locations across the country.

“Our ColorClix app transforms how consumers take their daily color inspirations – colors in anything from furniture to a floral arrangement or an art pattern – and turn them into a design reality in their homes,” said Jennifer Dodson, senior marketing manager, Olympic Paints. “The app brings an element of fun and spontaneity to the color process because anything can be an inspiration. By simply snapping a picture on a mobile device, homeowners can quickly find a matching shade of Olympic paint.”

The ColorClix app from Olympic Paints provides consumers with several options for matching colors to any Olympic Interior or Exterior Paint color:

  • Grab a Color: Consumers snap photos using their devices' cameras or choose existing pictures from their photo libraries and select the colors they want to match.
  • Get Inspired: Users browse Olympic Paints’ designer collections, such as the Audubon Collection, which highlight colors that complement each other.
  • Have a Color in Mind: For those who know what color they like in general but want to find an exact shade, it’s easy to browse Olympic Paints’ most popular colors by color family.

The mobile app seamlessly ties to Olympic Paints' online color tools, which include a downloadable desktop application that gives consumers the ability to view the entire Olympic Paints color pallette. Consumers also can virtually “paint” a room to instantly see how different colors work together in a space. Additionally, consumers can save their projects and share with friends via email, Facebook or Twitter to gain confidence in their color choices. All projects can be saved and accessed through the mobile app or the desktop app, giving consumers the ability to get inspired by color anywhere and anytime.

The ColorClix mobile app is available in the Apple App Store or the Android Market. The desktop ColorClix tool is available for download at www.Olympic.com in Windows- and Mac-compatible versions.

Olympic Paints offers a zero-volatile organic compound (VOC) paint and colorant formula in more than 1,200 shades, exclusively available at Lowe’s stores nationwide starting at $19 per gallon or under $3 for an 8-ounce sample.
