PPG-Devold receives ISO 9001:2008 registration
Management system focuses on product quality and customer satisfaction
SHELBY, N.C., May 24, 2011 – PPG-Devold, LLC, a joint venture of PPG Industries (NYSE: PPG) and Devold AMT, has received registration from UL DQS Inc. after auditors found the company’s quality system to be in compliance with ISO 9001:2008. The company manufactures multiaxial stitched fabrics for the composites industry at its operation in Shelby, N.C.
“PPG-Devold has always had a strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction,” said Herb Elder, president and operations manager, PPG-Devold. “The ISO 9001:2008 registration illustrates our commitments to quality, to supporting our customers, and to meeting the strict demands of the industry. It is consistent with our goal to be a world-class supplier in the composites market that inspires confidence in customers who purchase our multiaxial fabrics.”
PPG-Devold implemented its quality management system when the operation launched in 2007, with the goal of achieving ISO certification by mid-year 2011. The system provides a logical, organized process for ensuring product quality, on-time supply and immediate responsiveness to customers’ requests, helping PPG-Devold to achieve customer satisfaction.
With the registration process completed, Elder said PPG-Devold should receive formal certification for compliance with ISO 9001:2008 by the end of June.
ISO 9001 is an internationally recognized Quality Management System, which defines standards to help companies and organizations achieve consistent results and continually improve processes. ISO 9001:2008, previously called ISO 9001:2000, is part of the ISO 9000 family of standards. Although they have different names and are managed by individual member country entities around the world, the standards, quality documents and requirements for certification are the same globally.
