PPG Aerospace business director Stone earns Auburn recognition
Gurley, Ala., resident named 2011 Outstanding Materials Engineering Alumnus
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Aug. 2, 2011 – PPG Industries’ (NYSE:PPG) aerospace business executive Anthony Stone has been named the 2011 Outstanding Materials Engineering Alumnus by the Auburn University Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. The annual award recognizes an alumnus for outstanding professional contributions.
A 1983 Auburn graduate, Stone holds a bachelor’s degree in materials engineering. He received the award from College of Engineering Dean Larry Benefield during the annual Samuel Ginn College of Engineering awards ceremony at the Auburn University Hotel and Dixon Conference Center.
Stone is PPG Aerospace global director of new business development and innovations for transparencies. He has been in the aerospace business for nearly 30 years, including 21 years with PPG, and has held materials engineering, process, sales and marketing posts. Stone is a member of Auburn’s materials engineering advisory board, Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society and Alpha Sigma Mu International Professional Honor Society for materials science and engineering. He is past director for the North Alabama International Trade Association board.
A Lanett, Ala., native, Stone lives in Gurley, Ala., with his wife, Marti, and daughter, Julia.
