DOVER, Del., Aug. 24, 2011 – The PPG Industries Foundation has donated $5,000 to the Dover Library Foundation on behalf of PPG Industries’ (NYSE: PPG) architectural coatings manufacturing facility in Cheswold to support the new Dover Public Library facility construction campaign.

“We are very happy to receive support from PPG for this important project,” said Margery Cyr, Dover Public Library director. “Replacing our 50-year-old, mid-sized suburban library building with a larger, urban facility that will serve as the anchor library for Kent County will enable us to improve the quality and scope of services we provide to the Dover community. It’s wonderful to know that PPG recognizes the importance of the Dover Public Library to all the citizens we support.”

The new, ultra-modern Dover Public Library building is expected to be completed in September 2012 and will feature sustainable architectural elements and offer additional space, materials and services. As an anchor library, it will provide a strong collection of materials to meet the research and reading needs of the public; professional staffing for services during extended hours and support for other county libraries; computer and other technology training facilities; and meeting and conference rooms for library and public use. Additionally, the library will expand its programs for lifelong learning and enrichment, particularly for literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching and support.

“PPG is strongly committed to supporting the communities where its employees work and live, especially institutions and programs related to education,” said Mitch Magee, plant manager at PPG’s Dover facility. “The Dover Public Library offers unlimited learning, development, enrichment and cultural enhancement opportunities to all citizens in the Dover area, regardless of their age or ability to pay. We see it as a valuable investment in the future of our community to help it rebuild and expand its offerings to serve even more of our neighbors in Kent County.”
