PPG unveils colorful 2011 SEMA attractions

Collision shop theme, industry stars, radical rods and bikes, new products, and more

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio, Oct. 12, 2011 – Industry celebrities, show cars and motorcycles, custom-painted auto hoods, new paint products and more will be featured at the PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) automotive refinish booth at the 2011 SEMA show, Nov. 1-4 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The PPG booth, 24501, is designed as a retro body shop. At the booth, show visitors can meet custom car world superstars and PPG devotees Charley Hutton, Bobby Alloway, and Tom and Mitch Kelly. Painters Hutton (Charley Hutton’s Color Studio) and the Kellys (Kelly & Son the Crazy Painters) are well-known and highly respected for their distinctive paint designs and applications. Custom rod builder Alloway (Alloway’s Hot Rod Shop) is the 2011 Autorama Builder of the Year. Hutton will also lead two seminars on painting techniques using VIBRANCE COLLECTION(R) waterborne paint products.

Three PPG-painted street rods will be featured: a blue 1959 Ford Ranch Wagon with ghosted graphics, a PPG Goodguys Paint Pick 1957 Chrysler Imperial LeBaron, and the topaz-finished Imperial Speedster – the custom sports car Chrysler never built. Two award-winning Steele Kustoms motorcycles, including the first-ever Detroit Autorama Grand Master winner, will also add color to the display.

Additionally, PPG is featuring an array of car hoods painted by artists including: Fred Scioli, Killer Kreations; Troy Lee, Troy Lee Designs; Tom and Bubba, Bubba’s East Coast Rods & Customs; Bill Steele, Steele Kustoms; Ryan Korek, Korek Designs; Pete Santini, Auto Art Studios; Tom and Mitch Kelly; Charley Hutton; and PPG’s own Paul Stoll, Jeff Matauch, Chris Springer, John Snyder, Jim Kvatek and Jeremy Seanor.

PPG will present new DELTRON(R) DC2000 Ultra Velocity Clear coating with super-fast air-dry capability as well as other powder coating innovations, along with TRANSITIONS(R) lens technologies. PPG representatives will be on hand to discuss the company’s products and answer questions.
