DOVER, Del., Aug. 20, 2012 – The PPG Industries Foundation has made an early-commitment contribution of $6,000 to kick off fund-raising for the United Way of Delaware’s annual campaign at PPG Industries’ (NYSE:PPG) architectural coatings manufacturing facility in Cheswold.

"We appreciate PPG’s ongoing efforts to support the annual campaign," said Michelle A. Taylor, president and chief executive officer of United Way of Delaware (UWD). “Funding from companies such as PPG enables United Way of Delaware to support programs focused on improving education, income and health in Kent, Sussex and New Castle counties.”

In addition to funding a network of health and social service programs, UWD is engaged in Live United 2015, a long-term strategy to improve the quality of life for all Delawareans. UWD is leading efforts to help children and youths achieve their potential, to promote financial stability and independence, and to connect Delawareans in need with health-care resources.

“PPG and its employees are strongly committed to enhancing their communities, especially by supporting the great work of the many United Ways throughout the U.S.,” said Mitch Magee, PPG Dover plant manager. “We are pleased that the PPG Industries Foundation supports United Way of Delaware and helps kick off our plant’s annual fund-raising campaign. We’re even more pleased that our employees exceeded the foundation’s total giving the last three years, with a total of $32,010 pledged by employees and $15,000 donated by the foundation. We hope many PPG Dover employees will express their generosity again this year.”

Established in 1951, the PPG Industries Foundation demonstrates the values of PPG Industries by enhancing the quality of life in communities where the company has a presence.
