PPG promotes DPLV 2.1 VOC epoxy primers
STRONGSVILLE, Ohio, Aug. 28, 2012 – PPG Industries' (NYSE:PPG) automotive refinish business has announced the availability of a new DPLV 2.1 volatile organic compound (VOC) compliant series of epoxy primers. The multipurpose primers build on the success of popular and versatile DPLF primers, offering more technologically advanced and environmentally progressive formulations.
The DPLV 2.1 Epoxy Primer line provides excellent adhesion and corrosion resistance for substrates such as properly prepared steel, aluminum, fiber glass, rigid plastics and plastic fillers. The DPLV Epoxy Primer also can be used as a sealer and topcoated with many of PPG's two-component urethane undercoats and topcoats. It is compatible with waterborne basecoats as well.
"This is a very significant advance in epoxy primers. The best is now even better," said Jennifer Boros, brand manager, Premium Solventborne Brands. "PPG DP primers are outstanding products, and these are even better. The DPLV Epoxy Primer requires no induction time, lays down smoother, sands more easily, and as a sealer provides faster hiding of topcoat. Add in the low-VOC factor, and we believe collision centers will be very pleased with the new primer."
DPLV 2.1 Epoxy Primer is available in three colors: White DP48LV, Gray DP50LV and Black DP90LV. These can be blended to achieve a broad range of gray shades. To learn more about new DPLV Epoxy Primer and other PPG refinish products, call 800-647-6050 or visit www.ppgrefinish.com.
