PPG publishes new liquid coatings brochure

Four-page booklet highlights products, color and customer support capabilities

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 9, 2013 – PPG Industries’ (NYSE:PPG) industrial coatings business has published a brochure covering its full line of liquid coating products and technologies for heavy-duty equipment, automotive parts and accessories, transportation, sporting goods and consumer products.

Highlighted products include solvent-based SPECTRACRON® coatings; low-volatile organic compound (VOC) PERFORMALOC™ topcoats; and VELVECRON™ soft-touch coatings, which give many popular consumer electronic products a soft, luxurious feel. AQUACRON® water-based and RAYCRON® ultraviolet (UV)-curable coatings are also environmentally responsible, low-VOC liquid options.

The brochure describes PPG’s liquid coatings according to the performance characteristics of their base resins. Proprietary PPG formulations encompassing urethanes, acrylics, epoxies, alkyds and polyesters are designed to provide original-equipment and consumer-product manufacturers with a range of choices for meeting their aesthetic, durability and budget demands. Readers also can find information about hazardous-air-pollutants (HAPs)-free and chrome-free coatings that help customers meet strict federal and local environmental mandates.

PPG capabilities for small batching and custom color production and styling are detailed, along with world-class technical and support services such as system design and evaluation, coating line start-up assistance, on-site technical assistance and supervision, laboratory testing and quality control management.

Customer support can be provided through KNOWLEDGE COLLEGE™ training by PPG, two-day seminars that coach customers’ personnel in the basics of managing a coatings operation, including equipment controls and maintenance, problem solving, and hands-on, in-lab presentations on coatings formulation and science.
