PPG to launch the Charley Hutton Ridler Color Collection at SEMA Show

Award-winning colors enhance custom design schemes

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio, Oct. 24, 2013 – PPG Industries' (NYSE:PPG) automotive refinish business will introduce the Charley Hutton Ridler Color Collection at the 2013 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The collection is a spectrum of exclusive automotive colors created by Hutton, a three-time winner of the prestigious Ridler Award and one of the custom car world’s most respected and sought-after master painters.

The Charley Hutton Ridler Color Collection features colors from Hutton’s Ridler Award winners as well as unique formulations used on some of his other standout rides. Developed with PPG at Charley Hutton’s Color Studio in Nampa, Idaho, the collection covers 15 distinctive tones ranging from Madysen Gold and Checkered Red to Kalalau Lime and Indy Blue. Each is a special Hutton creation.

The collection is intended to inspire other custom car builders and painters to unlock their imaginations and bring their designs to life.

“Being able to share the incredible colors we’ve dreamed up is very exciting,” Hutton said. “These PPG colors give custom builders and painters the chance to let their ideas become realities. I hope street rod, muscle car and custom car enthusiasts take a look at what we’ve put together. These colors are hot and some amazing things can be done with them.”

The Ridler Award is presented annually at the Detroit Autorama and is regarded as the custom car world’s highest honor. Hutton won the Ridler in 2005 and 2007, and again this year with “Checkered Past,” a 1940 Ford coupe featuring a dazzling red PPG paint finish.

Hutton also has received several Street Rod of the Year, Custom Rod of the Year and America’s Most Beautiful Roadster awards as well as many other top prizes. He established his painting credentials early in his career with appearances on the Discovery Channel’s "American Hot Rod," TLC’s "Overhaulin’" and Hot Rod TV. Hutton uses PPG Automotive Refinish products exclusively.
