Safety & Security
PPG offers proven structural reinforcement and ballistic protection with fiberglass. A lighter, more cost-effective solution than steel or aluminum, fiberglass also helps to protect again blasts and fire, while maintaining structural integrity. Because it is lighter than concrete, fiberglass is easier to transport, and less material is required because it is also stronger. Woven fiber glass fabric can be pushed or pulled in any direction and maintain its strength, and its light weight helps people wearing it to operate efficiently and know they are protected.

Glasforms, Inc. GlasArmor™ Ballistic Resistant Panels
Glasforms’ GlasArmor™ Ballistic Resistant Panels are manufactured in a continuous process with multiple layers of PPG ballistic grade Woven Roving Fabric encapsulated in a proprietary resin matrix. At 25% the weight of steel, these panels provide excellent versatility and ballistic protection and are available in UL 752 Level 1, 2, and 3 and NIJ Level IIIA performance ratings. For heavier munitions, the Dept. of Defense specifies the use of 3 panel layers to provide protection from mortar and rocket fire. These fiberglass reinforced polymer (FRP) panels offer ballistic resistant security with the additional performance advantages of durability, corrosion resistance, electrical non-conductivity, low thermal conductivity and light weight.
Untreated GlasArmor™ panels meet NFPA Class B standards for fire protection of interior walls when tested per ASTM E-84 standards. Class A installations are also available. Panels are easily fabricated and installed with common construction tools for military structures, police stations, courtrooms, critical control rooms, safe rooms, banks, cash boxes, storm shelters and firing ranges.
