Printing on Teslin Substrate 

Flexography
Teslin substrate should be handled like a thin film and tensions ranging from 0.5 - 1.0 lb./in. of width should be maintained. Due to the product’s ability to absorb water, both solvent-based and water-based flexography inks work well. A course line (150-175) anilox roll (high well volume) is recommended for sufficient ink densities. Ovens and dryers should be operated at minimal temperatures and high airflow rates.
 
Gravure
Large or high volume cell gravure rolls should be used to accommodate the high absorbency of Teslin substrate. Web tension should be maintained at 0.5 - 1.0 lb./in. of width to avoid distorting the image. Ovens and dryers should be operated at minimal temperatures and high airflow rates. Contact your ink supplier to determine the best ink to use on Teslin substrate.
 
Letterpress
Successful letterpress printing of Teslin substrate requires attention to the impression pressure of the platen. Excessive pressure can cause embossing and distortion of Teslin substrate. Platen pressure should be adjusted to the minimum value that will transfer the ink from the type to the sheet. Contact your ink supplier to determine the best ink to use on Teslin substrate.

Intaglio
Teslin substrates in thicknesses of 10 mils or greater have been successfully Intaglio printed.  The microporosity of Teslin substrate enhances Intaglio tactile security features and latent image capabilities.
