When the COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® program launched in 2015, we set out to invest $10 million over 10 years. After exceeding this goal in 2022, PPG employee volunteers worldwide are off to a strong start in 2023 beautifying and transforming spaces in their local communities.
PPG Employees lead the way to brighter communities in 2023
“With every Colorful Communities project, our volunteers are focused on making a significant impact in the lives of others,” said Malesia Dunn, executive director, PPG Foundation and corporate global social responsibility. “From schools to hospitals, the colors around us have an incredible influence on the way we think, feel and learn. Our employees kicked off 2023 dedicating each project to positively enhancing spaces in their communities.”

The first Colorful Communities project of 2023 took place in Herlev, Denmark at Mindsteps, a training center for children and young people with disabilities. More than 30 volunteers from our Soborg site in Denmark helped beautify eight rooms with specifically chosen colors, positively impacting the youth. Our colleagues and parents with children also enjoyed a painting workshop. WATCH a video about this project.
In Porto (Rio Tinto), Portugal, over 30 volunteers helped to revitalize the interior and exterior areas of the Obra ABC organization. Adolescents, young people and staff can now enjoy the revamped walls thanks to the volunteers' great work and many cans of DYRUP™ and BONDEX™ paint by PPG. CLICK HERE to check out the results.
PPG volunteers participated in five Colorful Communities projects as part of #Téléthon2022 in France. They put color on the walls of hospitals and AFM-Téléthon facilities in Paris, Saint-Etienne, Angers, Saint Brieuc and Evry. Nearly 630 liters of SEIGNEURIE® paint by PPG were used to brighten up the days of little patients with rare muscular diseases. To provide a more pleasant space for the pupils, the volunteers provided a fresh coat of paint to the school's facade and multiple outdoor elements. WATCH a video on the project here.
Rejuvenating a government primary school for nearly 430 girls, over 80 employee volunteers from PPG Asian Paints joined together and applied fresh wall colors and murals in Gujarat, India, nearby the PPG manufacturing facility in Dahej, India.
Meanwhile in Gujarat, our volunteers completed a project at a school in Kasindira Village, near our Moraiya, India automotive refinish plant, to create an inspiring space for young students.
