PPG delivers global coating solutions to address growing OEM, end users’ and owner/operator coating specification requirements.
The Quality Approved Coater program has separate classifications for fastener and tooling applicators, which qualifies trusted applicators that can achieve the expected high standard of PPG Xylan® and PPG Xylar® product application. PPG recognizes the commitment coaters undertake in proper processes, to possess appropriate equipment, and the application skills needed to produce quality Xylan and Xylar coated components.
These coaters invest in personnel and training, to ensure they have fully capable applicators who understand the coating process; from part handling and preparation, to coating application and testing.
The program consists of coaters that meet both PPG and the needs of other stakeholders, with entrance to the program being strictly controlled.
Program criteria
QAC status is awarded on the successful completion of the following by way of example (but not limited to):
- Program legal agreement in place
- Review of coating process documentation
- Assessing of the applicators Xylan/Xylar coating facilities
- Review of coating equipment and facilities
- Review of applicators external accreditations
In addition, the coater must supply coated samples for testing in line with the QAC program coating specifications.
