Global celebration grants deepen the impact of COLORFUL COMMUNITIES projects

Throughout 2025, the COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® program and our employee volunteers have celebrated a decade of transformative impact. One of the exciting ways we are marking this milestone is reinvesting a total of $1 million in celebration grants to past and current Colorful Communities partners with $10,000 grants to each recipient.

Take a look back at celebration grants gifted earlier this year.

Asia Pacific

From Bangplee Health Promotion Hospital in Thailand to the Very Special Kids organization in Australia, 10 celebration grants were distributed the Asia Pacific region across China, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Australia and Vietnam.

In the first year of the Colorful Communities program, our volunteers transformed Nansha Primary School in Zhangjiagang, China, with fresh paint and lively murals. This year, a celebration grant has helped the school purchase new computers for its students.

Meanwhile, the TEDA XingYou Autism Rehabilitation Center in Tianjin, China, received an update in 2021 with PPG employee volunteers adding colors to stimulate the children’s imagination and creativity while providing a safe and comfortable environment. Through a celebration grant, the organization invested in new teaching facilities.

Europe, Middle East and Africa

Thanks to a celebration grant to Association PITCHOUN for Maison de l’Enfance et de la Famille du Valenciennois (MEF), 21 children living at the Artres care home experienced a memorable day of fun and smiles at an amusement park in France enjoying rides, shows and even purchasing a small souvenir to add to their memories of the day. Back in 2021, our volunteers renovated the orphanage. The same grant also supported a second MEF home for children in Condé-sur-l'Escaut, which was beautified during our 2024 Colorful Communities.

Meanwhile, the hospital Beskidzki Zespół Leczniczo-Rehabilitacyjny in Jaworze, Poland, utilized their celebration grant to purchase advanced rehabilitation equipment that treats patients with neurological and orthopedic conditions, as well as children and adolescents with postural defects.

Cristina Mora Luján, Mayor of Quart de Poblet, Spain, expressed gratitude for the celebration grant to CEIP Molí d’Animeta, a local community and educational space.

“I would like to express, on behalf of the Town Council and the entire educational community of CEIP Molí d’Animeta. It is a source of pride for our municipality that PPG employees voted to recognize the project previously carried out in this educational center. This grant represents valuable support that will help continue improving the learning and social spaces for our boys and girls,” said Mayor Luján.

United States

From Global Links in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the Fairgrove Family Resource Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, our grants are reaching far and wide to help 70+ U.S. Colorful Communities partners advance their missions. Many are choosing to enhance their facilities with renovation projects. A couple other examples include:

At the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, visitors are greeted by an A-12 Oxcart supersonic aircraft as they approach the main museum building. Operational from 1962-1968, it has been exposed to the elements for decades and is in desperate need of repainting. Celebration grant funds will be used to purchase primers and paint to restore the historic aircraft. PPG employee volunteers completed a Colorful Communities project here in 2019.

The ONEgeneration Senior Center, home to a 2016 Colorful Communities project, provides services for older adults, caregivers and adults with disabilities in the San Fernando Valley, Greater Los Angeles area. With their celebration grant, the center will provide community resources, access to socialization activities and general social services to meet the needs of those who lack basic access to care, ultimately creating stronger, age-friendly communities.
