Bringing Color to Classrooms: 10 Years of Impact in Mexico with FAE I.A.P.

In celebration of 10 years of the COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® program, we’re looking back to 2016 when PPG employee volunteers completed one of the first projects in Mexico alongside FAE Fundación para la Asistencia Educativa, or Foundation for Educational Assistance, (FAE I.A.P). Located in Chimalhuacan, the organization supports low-income schools across Mexico, providing resources to students, teachers and families in need.

When our partnership began nine years ago, many schools supported by FAE I.A.P.  were surrounded with gray walls, lacked inspiration and needed repair. That’s when PPG employee volunteers stepped in with enthusiasm – and colorful paint – to create learning environments where students felt engaged and welcome.

“Our intention was that every child felt at home, safe and comfortable in a place surrounded by joy in every corner they explored,” said Rosalinda Trejo, general director at Tlatel Xochitenco Campus, Chimalhuacan, FAE I.A.P.

Last year, PPG volunteers and FAE I.A.P. teamed up once again to spread more brightness to 100+ preschool children with 10 revitalized classrooms and an updated playground.

Watch the video below to learn more about our Colorful Communities projects with FAE I.A.P. and the lasting impacts created for students in Mexico over the past decade.
