Facts on Bumper Color
OEM bumpers often don’t match the rest of the vehicle and at some point, most shops have had to answer the question "Why?" to overcome their customer's concerns. There are 4 basic reasons why the color may differ:
- A color can vary depending on the substrate on which it is painted. For example, metal vs. plastic.
- The body was painted separately from the bumper, at different locations, using a different application method.
- Slight adjustments can be made during application which may cause the metallic or mica to lay down differently.
- Light reflects differently on curved vs. flat surfaces causing the appearance of a color shift.
