PPG volunteers partnered with organizations around the world to protect and beautify community spaces throughout May and June 2022. From a hospital in Hungary to a home for children in Mexico, new paint and fresh colors brought brightness and hope to facilities in need of revitalization through eight COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® projects.

Latin America
As part of the first Colorful Communities project in Mexico including PPG volunteers since the onset of the pandemic, 40 PPG employees added fresh, inspiring colors to Proyecto de Vida I.A.P (Life Proyect) in Ezequiel Montes, Queretaro, Mexico, an institution that provides a long-stay home for children who have been victims of mistreatment, violence, abuse or neglect. After protecting the home with waterproof paint to eliminate ceiling leaks in bedrooms and adding new colors to white walls, volunteers spent time dancing with the children and enjoying the space together.
United States and Canada
PPG volunteers from our global IT group joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania’s Carnegie club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to revitalize spaces for students to learn and grow. In addition to painting the gym, teen room, computer lab, a “makers space” and more, volunteers assembled summer science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) kits.
Also in Pittsburgh, our volunteers returned to HEARTH, a facility that offers services and housing to women and children who are survivors of domestic violence and other trauma, to paint a long-term residency and provide a home-like environment and support for residents.
As part of PPG’s specialty coatings & materials (SCM) business’ leadership conference, a Colorful Communities project took place at Sunrise School in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Sunrise School provides an enriching, challenging and inviting environment to all of the school’s special education students while facilitating the growth of productive citizens by instilling in their students the necessary skills to transition from the classroom to the community. Employee volunteers painted hallways, the cafeteria, and the STEM library.
Europe, Middle East, Africa, French Overseas and Suriname
Our PPG colleagues in Athens, Greece, brought their passion and commitment to the “Anagennisi” institution, an association dedicated to parents and friends of autistic people, which had its walls revitalized with peaceful shades of colors.
In Evora, Portugal, PPG volunteers used hopeful and bright colors to renovate the exterior spaces of the the Associação de Amigos da Criança e da Família "Chão dos Meninos," a shelter for children who suffered abuse.
Meanwhile in Poland, our colleagues made us proud by bringing colors to two different locations. The first project took place in Wroclaw, where PPG employees created a mural and beautified bedrooms at Dziecięcy Dom, a children’s shelter that also serves as home for Ukrainian refugees. At the second project, held in Gliwice, volunteers repainted the halls of the Silesian University of Technology and created an inspiring mural inside of the laboratory, which has been previously renovated and equipped by PPG.
