PPG Foundation

Living our purpose to protect and beautify the communities where we live and operate

Since its establishment in 1951, the PPG Foundation has served as PPG's primary grantmaking organization in the United States. Aligned with our global priority areas, the PPG Foundation is committed to education, community sustainability and employee volunteerism.

The PPG Foundation invests in partners and programs that help to prepare people for meaningful careers and lives through STEM education, skilled trades, advanced manufacturing and environmental sustainability.

We also support long-term community sustainability through partnerships with food banks, social service providers, disaster relief efforts and local economic development initiatives.

Marking its 75th anniversary in 2026, the PPG Foundation brings to life our purpose to protect and beautify PPG communities by building meaningful partnerships and creating lasting impact. As community needs evolve, we remain committed to supporting and growing alongside them.

Through the PPG Foundation, we seek to cultivate meaningful, dynamic community relationships to reach the people and places where we can do the most good. Our team of U.S.-based foundation agents works directly with nonprofit partners in their communities to identify opportunities where the PPG Foundation funding and employee volunteers can create positive impacts.

PARTNERSHIPS & POSSIBILITIES

PPG Foundation funds a variety of U.S.-focused programs in the communities PPG calls home. These include:

  • Community Grants: The PPG Foundation's grantmaking priorities are in the areas of education and community sustainability. Grants are accepted on an invitation-only basis. Download our Funding Guidelines (PDF).
  • Matching Gifts: When our employees in the U.S. make a personal financial contribution to the local causes they care about, the PPG Foundation doubles the impact.
  • GIVE Program: The PPG Foundation backs the commitments of PPG employees who volunteer their time or serve on boards with $500 grants.
  • Innovative Classroom Grants: PPG employees can support public schools in the U.S. by applying for a grant up to $1,000 to fund projects that spark students’ interest in STEM.
  • PPG Foundation Scholarship Program: We partner with the National Merit Scholarship Program to help students reach their academic goals.

Celebrating 75 years of the PPG Foundation

Over the last 75 years, the PPG Foundation has invested over $265 million in local communities across the U.S. where PPG has a presence.  Throughout our history, the PPG Foundation has aimed to improve the lives of others by partnering with our nonprofit partners located where we live and work. Investing in Educators, Empowering Tomorrow

The PPG Foundation has teamed up with AdoptAClassroom.org since 2021 to provide STEM grants to schools so they can transform learning for their students. Our grants help schools build learning infrastructure that will last far beyond a single academic year while inspiring students to explore STEM careers.

Building a Sustainable Future Through Learning

The PPG Foundation works with the National Energy Education Development (NEED) organization to deliver teacher workshops that assisted educators in building content knowledge and capabilities for teaching energy topics in the classroom. PPG employee volunteers participated in several workshops to help connect the curriculum to industry.
