The Blankemeyer brothers started MetoKote Corporation in Mt. Cory, Ohio. In 1972, they outgrew the facility and moved the business to nearby Lima, Ohio, where it is now one of the oldest and largest facilities in the PPG Coatings Services network.

Though part of a new company, the Lima plant maintains its strategic importance as a nucleus for research and development, and for the continued deployment of new and emerging coatings application technologies.

Building on a 50-year legacy of excellence established by MetoKote Corporation, the Lima plant unites high-performance liquid, powder and e-coat protective coatings from PPG with industry-leading application services, delivering the very best solutions the industry has to offer.

Capabilities:

All Lima, Ohio facility coatings systems are built to accommodate large-volume requirements with part-size variations from small assembly brackets to large automotive bumpers. The plant also features a special pretreatment line for aluminum extrusions and castings designed for bond-adhesion promotion, as well as one large, general-purpose cleaning line. With 250,000 square-feet of operational space including 34 shipping and receiving docks, the Lima facility is built for high-volume production and distribution.

PPG Coatings Services operates a state-of-the-art system for applying an aluminum adhesive-bonding surface pretreatment, a process that enables aluminum components to form an extremely heavy-duty, corrosion-resistant bond with the structural adhesives used in aluminum-intensive vehicle designs.

Environmentally Friendly

The Lima plant utilizes “heavy-metal-free” cathodic, epoxy electrocoat material with low VOCs and HAPS. A state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system assures compliance with all environmental regulations.

Accountability

The plant is equipped with the MetoKote Inventory Tracking System (MITS2), which provides immediate “real time” data on the status of parts being coated. The facility also offers full EDI/ASN (Electronic Data Interchange/ Advanced Shipping Notice) capabilities.
