AIA - Continuing Education with Protective and Marine Coatings

PPG is committed to advancing the protective and marine coatings industry through continuing education and professional development. We offer a number of AIA-accredited courses that provide continuing education units (CEUs) upon completion. These educational sessions are designed to help architects, designers and industry professionals stay current on coating technologies, industry trends, performance standards and best practices that support informed project decisions.

Registration is free and courses are available both in-person and virtually to accommodate a variety of schedules and learning preferences. To register or request additional information, please fill out the form provided on this page.

Our courses

PMC 1101: High Performance Coatings Technologies for Structural Steel: Performance, Durability, and Specification Best Practices

This course is designed to educate architects on the use of liquid and powder coating technologies for exposed structural steel in architectural projects. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how various coating systems provide protection against corrosion, chemical exposure, and environmental wear, while also contributing to the overall design aesthetic.

PMC 1102: How to Address Fireproofing

This course was developed so architects would understand the advantages and disadvantaged of liquid and powder coating technologies for the architectural markets. Participants will learn about the markets, the different coating technologies, manufacturing processes and application methods.

PMC 1103: High-Performance Resinous Flooring Systems: Specification, Safety, and Sustainability

This course introduces architects to resinous flooring systems and their application in commercial, institutional, and industrial environments. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the types of resinous floors—such as epoxy, polyurethane, and MMA systems—their installation processes, functional performance, and how to specify them effectively.

PMC 1105: High Performance Coating Technologies for Temperature Stability and Moisture Control: Performance, Durability, and Specification Best Practices

This course examines the importance of temperature stability and moisture control in
building environments. Participants will learn how condensation on exposed piping
can create significant risks, including corrosion, equipment degradation, and
electrical damage that can compromise operational reliability.

PMC 1106: High Performance Coatings Technologies for Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Environments: Performance, Safety, Longevity and Specification Best Practices

This course examines the critical role protective coatings play in preserving the
performance, safety, and longevity of water and wastewater infrastructure.
Participants will learn how environmental exposure, chemical attack, immersion
service, and corrosion can degrade concrete and steel assets, leading to increased
maintenance costs, operational disruptions, and reduced asset life.
