Hydroelectric
Engineered to perform
Maintain the functionality, efficiency and operational reliability of hydroelectric power plants with PPG coating systems. Our proven technologies safeguard critical infrastructure, including conduits, penstocks, gates, volutes, pit linings and buried basements. Engineered to perform in the most demanding environments, our coatings protect against fast-flowing water, chemical pollutants, abrasion and debris impact.
Outstanding corrosion and abrasion resistance
Designed for immersion and atmospheric exposure, our coatings deliver corrosion, abrasion and UV resistance to extend the service life of key components and minimize maintenance cycles. For gates and structures exposed to fluctuating water levels, high-gloss coatings resist staining and support natural debris release and weather wash-off. Surface-tolerant solutions increase application efficiency by allowing continued curing underwater.
Excellent abrasion, corrosion and impact resistance
Fast-cure solutions for increased productivity
Reduced staining and high gloss retention for improved appearance
Suitable for application in wide range of climatic conditions
Featured products

PPG SIGMASHIELD™ 880
This surface-tolerant epoxy prevents corrosion in extreme industrial and marine environments with excellent resistance to abrasion, impact and seawater, and can be immersed rapidly after application.

PPG SIGMAFAST™ 278
This epoxy primer and buildcoat provides outstanding corrosion protection in atmospheric exposure. It accelerates throughput with a short overcoating time and broad dry film thickness range, while offering easy application by airless spray.

PPG SIGMADUR™ 550
A two-component, aliphatic acrylic polyurethane finish that offers excellent color and gloss retention and unlimited recoatability. This coating has good application properties, splash resistance and can cure at temperatures down to -5°C (23°F).
