Dust and debris of different sizes will be noticed in the clearcoat.
Cause
- Dirt and dust attracted to the clear during application
- Contamination coming from compressed air supply
- Static on vehicle
- Dirty booth filters
Prevention
- Establish a regular compressor maintenance schedule
- Change booth filters regularly
- Wear a clean, suitable, cover-all or disposable paint suit. Never wear the same cover-all for prep and paint work
- Keep the booth doors closed
- Tack Rag the basecoat before application of clearcoat
Rectification
- After fully cured, the surface dirt can be sanded and polished out
- Dirt below the surface will need to be sanded and refinished once cured
